The Bows come to campus with me fairly regularly, but they still get nervous amidst all the hubbub, even on a Sunday. Today, the marching band playing in the distance caused them both to cower a bit, huddle together, and droop their tails. I want to try to capture this shot again some other time, though the magnolia trees won’t stay in full bloom for long…

Today, I took hundreds of pictures of Marti and the Troublemaker Basenji trio! I’ve only had time so far to post this one shot for Roll of 28. As promised, there will be more. Despite my dirty lenses and filters (argh! and I thought I managed to clean it all off last night!) I think I got some nice ones of Dannii, who is currently waging a battle against canine lymphoma. Anyway, I need to do some touch-up work before they’re presentable.

Sometimes I sneak the Bows onto campus with me, because they know how to chill quietly and behave themselves while I work.

Today, I left them at home, which was surely for the better. High schoolers were spilled all over the hallways, as the campus was hosting a regional speech competition. Youths in suits talking and gesticulating at walls, plastic file tubs stacked precariously on cheap dollies, the crisp syllables of well-groomed competitors in sugar-fueled conversation… it would have been overwhelming to the Bows, indeed.

Yes, dogs need attention, exercise, training, grooming, etc. But sometimes it’s nice having dogs that are just comfortable doing nothing. Allows the humans to get stuff done on occasion.

Well, I guess this is the “hump” of Roll of 28 where I am uninspired to take a picture of anything else but my lunch. And it was a busy day. Still, I tried to eat decently.

Lunch today was a big ol’ bowl of udon with Taiwanese spinach, buna shimeji, a cake of tempura with veggies, boiled egg, and delectably squishy and spongy mini age tofu. With a side of guava juice and some vitamins.
