Unintentionally, today appears to be Mastiff day. This afternoon, I met my first Neapolitan Mastiff in the flesh, as it were.
Of course, this would also be the day that I chose to wear sandals to the dog park. I got my toes thoroughly drooled upon in the course of our self-introductions.
This shot is backlit, so you can’t see her face or her eyes so clearly. She’s about two years old, and looks like a lot to manage, indeed!

She looks pretty good for a Neo! I’m really not a fan of all that nasty extra skin that the show Neos have.
I have to admit, I’d been dreading meeting a Neo in person since following the ongoing saga on Pedigree Dogs Exposed. So it was a “pleasant” reminder that the pet world is frequently more moderate than what show pictures reveal.
She did have very pink, exposed haws though. That’s what the backlit photo doesn’t show. I noticed because I was looking for it, as well as evidence of how difficult it might be to maintain hygiene underneath all those facial folds.
But I am not in the habit of posting pictures of other people’s pets just to criticize them. I was happy to have met her. Her people, on the other hand, were too busy getting their THC buzz on (right at the entrance of a very public park?? really??) to engage in much conversation, so unfortunately, I did not get her name.
she looks downright active, good for her!
Such a beautiful Mastiff! Yeah floppy lipped dogs tend to drool.
Bella drools tons if food or treats are around.
I dread myself meeting one ever since seeing this picture.. O_o
